Do You Agree, Or Disagree? (#8) Topic: Self-Published Authors aren't worthy of the "Author" title now?

What a load of blubbering bosherkoolitafeckery bollocks.

I am usually very calm and 'professional' on this blog. I force myself to see both sides of an argument, for argument's sake.

But today, I bring you my full-fledged disgust at this article:

Self-Publishers Should Not Be Called Authors

This is a joke, right? My gosh. Please, go read it, then come back.

Let's discuss.

  1. Of course I'm the author of my works; if I'm not, then who is? I didn't read the original article, but it was linked on The Passive Voice yesterday. I read enough to convince me the alleged "author" of this piece doesn't understand the definition of the word. He's just trolling for clicks and links. Ignore him and go back to writing, everyone.

P.S. Love that you have a quote from McCartney!

  2. I liked one of the comments in there that said if we're going by those rules, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Virginia Woolf are not real authors. :P

In short, stoopid article and sooo not true!

  3. The comments were great!! His logic was very flawed. I'm with a traditional publisher but don't make my living off my books. Guess that means I'm not a real author either.

  4. i'm not even going to read the article because i'm sure i'll just be pissed off

    1. I'm with you, Sarah. I'll spend the time writing my next book instead - because I'M AN AUTHOR!

  5. Jessica, I couldn't get past the fact that his article was riddled with errors. That alone made him lose all credibility, especially when he categorizes himself as an editor. He's a joke.

  6. He just opened himself up for a firestorm, didn't he? Illogical argument anyway. Pretentious jerk.
