Poetry can get a bit like experimental jazz, where the rhythm and cadence is gone and it becomes a willy-nilly mess (to me). I don't mind working for it (I have the complete works and sonnets of Shakespeare and even love SOC prose like J.J.'s Ulysses), but when it gets too high-brow self-indulgent and unstructured, I'm out.<br /><br />Yes, poetic, lush prose makes me happy. So does spare, concise prose.
