You wanna see 'THE' eyebrows? Watch this ...

Here is a video clip that shows 'the' famous eyebrows. It was made in 1985. I was four. Mum is wearing sunglasses in the beginning, so you'll have to wait till she takes them off. Also, if you can manage to watch it till the end, you'll see me reaching my arms out toward the camera, in the red sparkly costume I borrowed from my neighbour. I was so uspet that the clip wasn't in colour. I so wanted my red costume to sparkle ... but it was not meant to be ...

  1. And so we meet the infamous eyebrows. They are much more discreet than I feared (my imaginings were Marx inspired(Groucho, not Karl))...

The ghost of AlliAllo past, arms outstretched, may not have sparkled redly, but still, she shot sparks in the dark. : j

  2. Those eyebrows aren't too bad! I've seen much worse.

  3. There is nothing much wrong with the eyebrows as far as I can see.

  4. Ok, just to make things clear, I was FOUR. At four, being picked up from school with a mother that looked pretty cool and funky was not pretty cool and funky to me then. Plus my eyes were smaller so her eyebrows looked bigger, naturally ;o)

  5. If I quit plucking stray hairs and darkened them a few shades...that's pretty close to what I'd be living with! At least that's what it feels like

I have always hated my eyebrows for some reason. hmmmm.

    Thanks for sharing!

  6. I love her voice. And you look so cute at the end. The eyebrows were pretty common back then. Remember Brooke Shields?

  7. I love to see the things that bothered children when they were young and then when they grow older they realize those things didn't matter!!! Too fun!

  8. I don't know why but this video is eerie. Maybe it's the b&w, or the eyebrows. I don't know. You at the end, reaching adds more chill to it.

  9. At least the eyebrows weren't joined in the middle, one eyebrow would have been worse! The music is great, loved the video!!! Wishing you happiness, Katherine

  10. Cool clip and yeah, the eyebrows are pretty prominent. lol.

  11. I can see why that would have bothered young you, especially if they weren't the natural thing--naturally large, dark eyebrows are something I can make an argument 'you just need to get used to them' but it isn't clear to me why somebody would do that to herself on purpose--in the 80s I was keeping my strays strictly in line (I ignore them now, as I've decided with fair hair, I am the only one who can SEE them)

That big of you at the end is sort of haunting--effective for a video.

  12. So this is a music video from a band your parents were in? That seems like it should be awesome - unless it's not.

  13. I was thought about Brooke Shields too, Karen. I agree with so many others it is a haunting video (but in a cool way).

  15. My computer keeps stopping a minute in! I'm going to come back later and try again. But man, 1985--your mom was stylin'!

  16. Yeah, I've seen worse! ;-) And you are soooo cute. But it a little creepy the way you are ghost-ish looking.

But the song? Awesome! It's got the perfect beat to work out to!

  17. Thought it was cool you were in the video - even if you were haunted by eyebrows.

  18. I really liked the video and the song is excellent. The eyebrows are different, but not overly drastic -- She kind of reminds me of Isabella Rossellini in Blue Velvet. Missed your part at first and had to go back and rewatch the end.

  19. What a great glimpse into your past, Jessica.
Your mum had a powerful voice. Her eyebrows were powerful too...lol

Mind you, I sure have seen worse here in Cyprus. *smile*

    Thanks for sharing.

  20. I think I get it Jessica. In some ways you've helped me understand some "things" as well. Your mom seeemed passionate about her music.

  21. I cant say anything, I have to clear my brows every week, stray hairs everywhere, oh lord...

  22. Dude. That was a cool clip. But I can relate to NOT finding your parents cool when you're little - especially when they're different from the other 'rents on the block. I was the product of that "mixed family" down the road. In the seventies, though more widely accepted than it had been in previous eras, being the little yellow girl with the brown dad (who sported INSANE mutton-chop sideburns) and a white, British mum wasn't so cool to me, lol. Thanks for posting this :D

  24. Is there a big difference between the Australian and the English dictionary? You have both of them in your book-shelf pic >:)

It's the eyebrows that ate Chicago!

  26. I'm digging the eyebrows! And that whole '80s scene. I'll bet it was an *interesting* way to grow up. :)

  27. At least she had two seperate eyebrows and not one huge unibrow. That might have been more scary right?

  28. OMG! I frickin loved this!! Those are definitely some eye-boughs!LOL! She so reminds me of Suzie from the banshees and Xenene Cervenka from X....and do those earrings still exist, they were so 80's cool!

And little somber you at the end...even though it wasn't in color, you were sparklin with the best of em.

So glad you shared this :) Muwah!

  29. I found your mom's eyebrows. They're on RobPatz! ROFLMAO Saw him in an interview clip shortly after watching your mom's video. I like them on your mom better. :) The video is too cool and at least you have interesting stories to share.
