  1. Great tips. I'll keep them close to me as next year I plan to have a few writer retreats here in Akumal, Mexico.

  2. Excellent tips. I can't imagine winging it.
I'd have a laser light show at mine. Wouldn't that surprise folks?

    1. I'd love to see it! For my next workshop I plan to include a reptile show. Kidding, but I really did invite a reptile demonstrator into my theater program as a reward for the cast (several years ago, I don't direct theater these days). It was amazing - snakes, turtles, even a baby alligator. Hmm, no, it doesn't work for my current events. But feel free to use that idea. ;-)

  4. I'm all for planning. As a person who goes to some of these workshops I appreciate when a person has taken time to be organized. I like handouts, I like being able to speak with the presenter. Best of luck, Natalie and thanks for the pointers. I know from my past experience in business communications, planning gets results.

    1. Thank you. I've made lasting connections and new friendships through workshops. It's worth the effort. Of course everything is worth the effort, otherwise why do it at all? I can still hear my dad's voice saying, "If a job is worth doing, it's worth doing right." He was just talking about doing the dishes, but I caught on.
