Best compliment I have EVAH received ...

Source
The quote below is about my short story MUTED, the one that inspired the idea for my third novel which I'm currently doing research for. Sorry to toot my own horn here, but I'm just so supah ECSTATIC...

"Reading it was one of those moments where I got writer envy and then had a publisher squee." --Jodi Cleghorn, Publisher of eMergent Publishing

So today I'm floating on clouds ... can you blame me???

What is the best compliment you've ever received?

  5. Seeing a grown man cry after reading one of my poems. Learning that a woman cried after reading my first novel (twice in fact) was also good but there's nothing like seeing the effects a handful of words can have on someone when they're sitting ten feet away from you.

  6. That is too cool!! The best compliment I ever received came from a friend, who does not read, like at all. He surprised me by not only buying my book, but then he actually read it and told me that he loved it.

  7. My best compliament some years back was "Yvonne you've lost weight" I since put some back one but nonetheless it was music to my ears.

    Yvonne.

  8. Oh, all writers desire their readers to feel that way about their books. I'm so excited for you!

  9. Now that's a fine compliment! I think the first time someone told me they were reading my book a second time because they enjoyed it so much sent me on a high.

  11. Oh, that's a great compliment, Jessica! Congrats on that!

I'm a lame loser about keeping track of specifics. I know people have said nice things... I even know where to FIND some of them, but the specific wording... poof... lost to my miserable memory.

  15. Hubs once told me my writing reminded him of Grisham. I'm not sure he meant it as a compliment, but I sure took it that way--LOL! :D

The best compliment I ever received was from my creative writing professor in college. After she read one of my stories, she told me I was a gem in her class. I've never forgotten it!

  22. I think the best compliment I ever got (and didn't even realize it at the time ::shame::) was when someone told me I had a "...writing style that was Tolkien-esque..."

Up until the first movie, I never read Tolkien's work when I got that compliment. So imagine what I felt like when I saw the first movie and started devouring all of his books. XD

I'm so happeh for you!!! That is an awesome comment to get!
