Super 8 Dubut Albums blogfest that I missed ...

I forgot about this blogest when it happened, hosted by DiscConnected, so I've decided to do it now :o)

Super 8 debut albums of my choice (today) are the following (added Wikipedia links to labels if you don't know them, and vids of my fave tracks too):

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds: From Her to Eternity

Dirty Three: Sad and Dangerous

Magic Dirt: Friends in Danger

(yeah, I'm cheating here, this is actually her second album, but the one that made everyone take notice!)

Hard Candy: Tattoo

  1. I have several Nightmares on Wax 12" singles, but not a single album. Great picks here Jess!

  8. I was going to participate in this blogfest, too, but I was too late.
Now that you made me think about it, I probably ought to make one anyway, too.
    And I can't believe I don't know any of these bands! o_o

  9. I've heard the Joni Mitchell album before. I'm remotely familiar with a couple more of these artists, but I don't really know any of this music.

Now I'm going to be going around all day humming that song from "Nightmares on Wax".

Hey, our 'Super 8 Great Debut Albums' lists were exactly the same... other than the minor 8 differences in them.

I believe I liked HARD CANDY the best on your list. (Do I score any points for that?)

And DIRTY THREE is definitely music to do something to. But I've thought about it and thought about it, and I just can't quite figure out WHAT that something is. But, whatever it is, that's definitely PERFECT background music for it. (Hmmm... Repairing clocks or watches maybe? It might be just right for a clockmaker's workshop. That's the only thing that comes to mind at the moment.)

  14. Nick Cave went to my school back in the days I lived in Melbourne, but he was a few years ahead of me so I never really knew him. Not really a big fan of his work, but he led an interesting life.
