I Think I'm in Love ...

So I discovered this woman over the weekend. I was immediately attracted to the CD cover. She calls herself Sóley ('Sunflowers' in Icelandic). And I AM IN LOVE, and really wanted to share. I haven't reacted to music so emotionally in years. And when I say years, I mean at least 5, at least. My gosh, the tears, this music evoked so many tears last night ...

There are SO many amazing tracks, each one quite different, and equally brilliant, so I found it really hard to choose one to embed here. I had to do the eenie meeney miney mo, thingy ...

Have a listen, but seriously, listen to more than just this one!

Have you ever fallen in love at first sound?

PS: Big thank you to Len Lambert for helping me promote Fabric today!

  1. Not my kind of music, but she has a nice voice.

  2. I've never heard of her. The album cover is kind of creepy, yet there's something else about it that gives me a soft, compassionate feel. Intriguing...

  3. Wow, her voice is amazing.

I feel like that about Bjork. I have all her albums. Her voice is so unique and she's just so aware of sounds and rhythm. Medulla, her all vocal album, is immense.

  6. Yeah! It's not often you and I share the same taste in music, but LOve this one.

  7. Oh, that is nice. I have definitely fallen in love to sounds--usually voices--men's that have a cry of pain to them, typically with a metal or alternative style for a nice contrast.

  10. I've never heard of her, but like her a lot. Her music is dark, but not overpowering. I've fallen in love at first sound a few times. Like just now! I'm off to hear more. Thanks...

  15. I like that. I kept trying to identify what it sounded like - Nina Nastasia, Coco Rosie, Josephine Foster? - but nothing really fits, which is always a good sign!

    Cool.
