So I'm having another baby ...

... a book baby, of course!

I'm really excited to announce that I have another novel coming out November 1st! This baby has been hanging around, whining, for about two years. It's been through the agent hunt rigmarole and experienced a couple of "I'm totally scoring this agent", moments. But, as usual, it comes shooting out the other end of the cybersphere with "They love me, but they don't know how to sell me," written on its forehead.

Story of my life.

But I'm not disappointed. Why?

Because I get to bring this baby into the world myself through Vine Leaves Press! (Which is now an official, legit, small press, btw, run by me and Dawn.)

And I'm super excited about it. I won't say too much about it now, except that I've sent it off for a final proofread with the amazing C.S Lakin, and then I'll be getting an ARC prepared for those interested in reviewing one. (If you're interested in reviewing an ARC, just tell me in a comment in this post and I'll write your name on my list.)

Mum and Me (2005-ish)

Short and sweet post today for the end of my blogging week. I just want to say THANK YOU to all my wonderful followers who commented and reposted my book trailer on facebook yesterday. You have NO IDEA how much I appreciate it. I went to bed all weepy last night. After having had a pretty low day (been a bit unreasonably depressed lately) my heavy head and chest suddenly filled with sweet air and butterflies. I'm so thrilled my trailer touched so many of you. And for those who are still wondering, yes, it's me singing in the trailer. Even though I do write songs myself, the original song for this trailer was written by my mother. I adored it and asked if I could remix it, and she said yes. So I changed the lyrics to fit the book and re-recorded it. So thanks so much MUM!

String Bridge Book Trailer is LIVE! (today's original blog post is below ...)

So, what do you think, guys???? Squeee!!!!

My impatience yesterday could have proved to be a total waste of money ... I really should learn how to control my impulses!

Yesterday I got caught up putting together a rough book trailer for String Bridge. I KNOW it's early, and I KNOW I won't be able to put it online until I have the book cover to add at the end, but I had an idea zooming round in my head the past few days (AND NIGHTS!) and couldn't let it go.

I HAD to do a rough to make sure what I had in mind was going to work, otherwise I'd still be thinking about it and it would be NAGGING at me.

Anyway. My idea WORKS! I'm so pleased, and my publisher took a look at my rough and loved the images and video and concept. She suggested a few changes to the text, but that's totally fine with me. The most important things to me are the images and video I PURCHASED (150 euros - yikes!). Thank goodness Janice liked them. Silly me didn't even think about downloading the watermarked ones for free first to test them out. Imagine if she didn't like them! I'd be kicking myself. See, I'm very impatient. When I get an idea in my head I WANT TO DO IT NOW. I think I get that from my mother ;o)

Another WONDERFUL thing about this trailer is that the music is ORIGINAL :o) It's actually one of my mother's songs, which I listened to recently and some crazy light bulb went off in my head (this is how the whole trailer obsession began). But the cool thing is that she is allowing me to change some of the lyrics to better fit my MC and record a shorter version with my voice. I can't wait! I'm going into the studio this Friday. Normally I would be able to do it for myself as I have Cubase (a music program) at home, but the power supply plug for my console is broken. Damn. Never mind. I can just sit back and relax and watch the sound engineer fix everything for me.

So how about you? Do you get desperate to get started with something when you have an idea for it? Or are you patient, jot down your ideas, and let them simmer?
