My partner introduced me to this guy about 6 years ago, and I haven't been able to stop listening to him since. Reminds me of the Beatles and Elliot Smith with a bit of Charlotte Gainsbourg quirk. A bit of Bob Dylan's and Ryan Adams' roughness and Nick Cave's darkness. Just ... beautiful. Perfect soundtrack to a quiet death scene.

Have a listen. Quiet death scene worthy?

I hadn't heard of this chap before. It's my kind of music however.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Jenn. I can't listen to this video now because I'm at school, but I'll return later!

ReplyDeleteHe does sound a bit like John Lennon...
ReplyDeleteHe does remind me of the Beatles and John. What a great artist.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful music. What a great way to start a day! Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteHe's really good. I'll be listening to him again. I see you live in Athens...one of my favorite cities of all time. How bad are things there really?
ReplyDeleteRhia from Five Minute Piece (about # 864 on A to Z list
I can easily imagine this one as a soundtrack to young adult books with angst-y characters, like fallen-into-someone-else's-body Mercy (by Rebecca Lim) or Sasha who hears voices of dead people and a policedog in Sherryl Clark's Dying to Tell Me. (both recently recommended on my blog, both by Australian authors).
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to tomorrow's musical selection, and the one after that, and the one after that...

Definitely death scene worthy! Adding this song to my "thriller" play list. NICE! (though not as hot as Eminem...just saying...) xo
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about that song - something about it bothered me. However, I watched your book trailer for String Bridge and that song is haunting. Beautiful voice. Makes me want to check out the book.
ReplyDeleteI would have picked Eddie Vedder for "E", but I do like your description of Jeremy Enigk - sounds wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! "Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything."

Oh, I need some music for a good death scene. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThank you for introducing me to a new artist...that was very pretty and mournful. I could see myself listening on a raining day while swining on the porch swing...is that weird?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the intro, I had never heard of him, but had to listen after your description of the combination of artist his music sounds like.
ReplyDeleteHope all is going well with the challenge. Congratulations to Jenn. I posted about your contest on my A to Z post today (it wasn't my post) what I meant was, I ave you a shout out so others will know about the give a way.
Really haunting sound - thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to Jenn. What a cool topic to do for A-Z!
ReplyDeleteHe is new to me, but has the gravelly voice that I enjoy.
ReplyDeleteAdding him to my "check this out" list :)
