Kindle Kerfuffle!!!

Source
So. My Kindle arrived yesterday. It's very cool. I tried it out last night with a friend's ms, making notes and highlights but ... something went wrong! I turned it off for a while, and when I went back to it all my notes had disappeared!!! Argh! So frustrating. They were, however, logged in the My Clippings folder, but no longer accessible in the actual document so it was really hard for me to see where all my notes went, especially when I hadn't highlighted anything.

Anyway, I tried again, and this morning my new notes are still in the document. Phew! hopefully, it was a ONE TIME ONLY glitch.

If you have a Kindle, have you experienced any glitches I should be aware of?

  1. Can't help you. I'm still reading books made out of cardboard and paper and ink from mostly brick and mortar stores. But I'm starting to feel in the minority.

  2. You are way, way ahead of me... I haven't actually used my Kindle yet for anything but reading and changing the font size! But I love it. Love, love, love it. And I hope you do, too!

  4. Haven't had a problem with mine. Then again, I really only use it for reading, and sometimes tweeting. Haven't even tried taking notes with it yet -- I'll have to give that a shot.

  5. When beta reading on my Kindle, I still take notes on paper and then type then into a word doc, so I can't touch on this aspect of it. :)

  6. Don't have a Kindle yet, but with all the glitches occurring on two laptops, my 5-spot, and my Droid, I don't know if I'm ready for anymore devices with glitches.

  7. I've just got mine, too, but I've only used it for reading so far. Sorry, not much help!

  8. Sorry, don't have a Kindle. Is there a way to back up what you've done on the computer, just in case?

  9. I've been having the whole nook vs kindle debate with myself lately. I'm ready to get one of them. It's interesting to see what you've been able to do with your kindle. I hadn't thought of being able to do anything but read on one! Sorry, I'm no help to you, but this post helped me! Christy

  10. You're waaaay ahead of me. The instructions for taking notes went over my head. Er, why don't you blog about that? I bet I'm not the only one who'd have eyes glued.

  14. I haven't had any glitches with my Kindle, but I haven't taken any notes with it yet. I've highlighted passages, but never done notes. Sorry. I can tell you that if it's a problem with your Kindle, Amazon's customer service is AWESOME!

  15. My Kindle has occasionally crashed or frozen. I've heard this happens if you have a cover with a hinge, but I find the built-in light so practical I don't want to switch. You can reboot the Kindle by sliding the switch over for about 15 seconds. If that doesn't work, then I go to Amazon and trouble-shoot the problem.

  16. The only problem I've had is actually totally my fault... somehow I accidentally made two amazon accounts (using the same email address, no less) and one had my Kindle registered to it and one didn't. I got them mixed up (not even knowing I had two) and then tried to buy something for my Kindle. Amazon was all, "You don't have a Kindle registered to this account." I FLIPPED. I was very frustrated--of course I did! I'd just bought a bunch of stuff for it!

Fortunately, I got it sorted out after much hair-pulling. Otherwise, my Kindle has been excellent.

    Hope you enjoy yours!!

  17. Probably a one time thing. I've never had that happen when I hi-lite and make notes.
