I had another post scheduled for today, but something this morning made me want to watch a little Torvill and Dean, so I've moved my original post to tomorrow. If you don't know who this breathtakingly brilliant figure skating couple are, you are seriously missing out. Torvill and Dean revolutionized figure skating, and there has not been one partnership yet to outrank them. At the 1984 Winter Olympics the pair became the highest scoring figure skaters of all time, receiving twelve perfect 6.0s. Please do take the time to watch these routines, or at least one of them the whole way through. If you appreciate performing arts, you won't be disappointed. These routines bring me to tears, every single time, if not for anything else, merely for their beauty and creativity.

Thanks Jessica for sharing these wonderful video's of who I think are the greatest skaters ever.
ReplyDeleteI watch them on Dancing On Ice and even at their ages they are wonderful.
Yvonne.
I remember T and D, Great names, great dancers. Thanks for the memory, Jessica.
ReplyDeleteYou have enlightened me. I hadn't heard of these two (I know, I must be living under a rock!) Such liquid movements, mesmerizing grace. thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteWhoa...I watched the tango video first and was amazed!!! at how insync they were at the beginning (with no music, mind you) And then everything after that was perfect harmony and fluid. The last video was the same way.
ReplyDeleteI like figure skating and I don't believe I've ever seen a couple skate the way they do. Beautiful.

I only had time to watch the tango one (have to get the kids ready for school). Wow, how did they do that without music? Now that's talent. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful skating! There's nothing quite like the beauty of well-done figure skating in my opinion. The smoothness.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
I agree with you, amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love the power and expression they put into their routines. Dance is expressive, but to do it on ice must be hard!
Can't watch these at work, but I'm sure you're right!
