#AtoZChallenge: Radiohead

When I listen to the song below, from Radiohead, I want the world to stop spinning. I want to close my eyes and float under water. To breathe under water. To hear nothing and everything. To feel my limbs weightless, and my head an empty cell with no concerns, worries, responsibilities, or even happiness. I want numbness, to forget that everything I do will cause a chain reaction in my life. I want to be in a moment in time that is in a perpetual freeze. When I listen to this song I want to keep playing it over and over and over again so I never have to leave the lull.

When I listen to this song, I am a memory.

Are there any songs that make the world stop spinning for you?

Don't forget to drop by Dawn Ius' blog, my partner in crime, to see her music pick for R.

  1. Radiohead are a bit after my time, Jessica, but I apprecaite the importance you place on music. From Bach to the Beatles it's high on my list of priorities.

  2. Don't know about making the world to stop spinning, but have a few that are now associated with events in my long life and I would love them not to be played again... :0)

  4. I don't have any single song, but I'm likely to zone out when I hear anything with classical guitar.

  5. There's a song by Extreme called "Stop the World" (I want to get off...) Um, maybe not the same thing.

  6. LOVE Radiohead. Um, let me think...songs that make me stop and ponder... Here are few: "Superman" by Five for Fighting--love the lyrics. "Iridescent" by Linkin Park--again, the lyrics. "Bloodbuzz Ohio" by The National--the way he sings it with his deep voice. Maybe a few of the Decemberists too... Nice post.

  7. Lots of songs but it depends on mood and what that particular day has brought.

  8. Yeah, one of those hypnotic bands with one of their hypnotic songs. Radiohead.

My stop-spinning songs vary. If I'm driving, I like something loud and drummy, like Slipknot, or the kinder, gentler Slipknot (aka Stone Sour).

If I'm computing, I prefer softer songs, but still with a good drumbeat. I got hooked on Pumped Up Kicks for a while, and Godsmack's Voodoo is still one of my all-time ponderizing songs!

  9. You gotta love Radiohead. Though some of their albums are so depressing they make you want to suck on an exhaust pipe. Songs to die by!

  10. I like Radiohead, but i've never owned any, so i hadn't heard this one. I think that stop the world thing would maybe be like Blue October's Into the Ocean--beautifully haunting and desperate but just floating...

  12. The Radiohead song is cool, reminds me of Neil Young somewhat. A song that transports me is Golden Slumbers by the Beatles, McCartney's vocal is inspiring.
