#AtoZChallenge: U2

WINNER #10: Congratulations NATE WILSON! Send me an email to let me know which album of mine you want and I'll send you a download link.
___________

Okay, so I'm not a fan of U2. But this song (and this song only) always makes me teary ...

You know, I tried to like this band. I really really did. I even started forcing myself to listen to their music, to (is there such a thing as "ween into"?) anyway, to get myself to like them. Nada ... CAN. NOT. DO. IT.

But yeah, I still love this song ...

Any bands you dislike with a song that you do?

Don't forget to drop by Dawn Ius' blog, my partner in crime, to see her music pick for U.

REMEMBER! During the challenge, I will choose a random commenter every two days, to receive a free download of one of my albums. Your choice! That's thirteen winners. How does that sound? Tell your friends! Just comment for a chance to win.

  1. I can't believe you don't like U2. They formed me. My post on them is WAY different!

  2. Best U2 song? "Streets have no name". Google the British Red Cross promo video and U2 "Streets have no name" and I dare you to not be teary after that.

  3. I don't really like Enya, but I love her song 'Council of Elrond' from the Lord of the Rings movies.

I loved U2 when they were great, back in the 80's and early 90's, but then they lost their way.

  4. Oh man, this is heresy! I agree with you on the song, but you are so missing out. "Running to Stand Still?" One of the most beautiful songs about addiction ever written! "Bullet the Blue Sky" is a fantastic song about greed (American greed to be sure), and how do you not love "All I Want is You?" But I will stop giving you a hard time, because I loathe Beyonce and people seem to think that makes me a heretic.

  6. I'm not a huuuge U2 fan either, but they do have some fabulous songs. Not such a fan of the newer stuff.

  7. Funny how all our musical tastes differ, and how others try to persuade us to like something we don't. You have more tenacity than I do. There is some music that is torture to my ears and you couldn't pay me to listen and try to like them.

  8. Jessica, U2 is awesome, but you have got it spot on. I HATE Bon Jovi with a passion just on principle as an 80s hair band. Then discovered they made "Wanted Dead or Alive" which is one of the greatest songs of all time. Don't get me started on the Pussycat Dolls.

  9. You said Ween. I hope that's your band for W.

  10. U2 is a band that finally grew on me but I'll never be a fan. I do like Beautiful Day though.

  11. I won! Further proof that I'm great at being random. (I'll get back to you with my choice after I get home and have a chance to listen to your other offerings.)

As for U2, I feel much the same way. I like With/Without and a couple others, but the rest of their stuff never hooked me. The same goes for Coldplay (and I often equate the two, since the one time I was in a band the singer idolized both).

  12. I do like U2, and I love With Or Without You. I grew up with them - right from seeing them play Live Aid.

  13. That happens to me all the time with certain bands! I know exactly what you are talking about. Stopping by from the A to Z Challenge!
