I'm freaking freaking freaking OUT!

Ok, here's the thing. The other day I was thinking that I should be living in an English speaking country so that I have access to all the weird and wonderful writer's events, conferences etc, blah blah. The next day I get an email from a company (won't name them just in case I'm not allowed) inviting me for an interview in the UK, for a permanent position. I didn't even apply for it, they found my CV on file from the freelance work I have done for them. I assume. How else would they get a hold of it?
The day after that, one of the people I work for at another UK company I freelance for has told me she has resigned and her position is available, and that she'll recommend me.

Holy COW what is going on folks? I'm freaking OUT!
Is the world trying to tell me that I should relocate from Greece to UK? What should I do? Should I seriously be considering this? Is this a sign to get out of here before Greece goes completely bankrupt?

  1. How awesome! This kind of thing happens to me all the time! Hubs and I say we are creating our reality. We make a statement (sometimes a completely random one) and a few weeks later it manifests itself! You said you wanted to live in an English speaking country and the universe provided the opportunity.

Sorry, didn't mean to get all mystical on you there.

It would be a big move, (I hate moving across town...but to another country? OMG) but it might be a good thing.

  2. Okay first, I LOVE your new picture. It's soooo cute ;-)

Two, I'm a firm believer in fate and things happen for a reason. The fact that you didn't apply for either job (and you're just that good) tells me you should consider it! I would. :o)

  3. The world? I doubt it. But opportunity knocks at random.
Perhaps you should examine your priorities in life, your personal circumstances, and your objectives... then see how changing countries would mesh with those things.

Also, you might want to secure a position before making plans/getting excited?

Job interviews don't always equate with jobs... Opportunity knocks, firmly brace the door open, then decide if you want to walk over the doorstep.

One thing is for sure, there's better weather Greece.
And, arguably (with all due respect and appreciation for UK landscape and cuisine), better landscapes and food. But maybe that's just my personal tastes...

  4. I think you should go. Sometimes life presents opportunities at a certain point in time for a reason. Plus you can always go back.

    I'm jealous.

I'd say don't pass up the opportunity.

  10. Good for you for being in demand and having great options--it is a tribute to your talent.

The economic situation in Greece does seem challenging, but in 12 months I am not sure if anywhere in the world will be better.

  16. Hell yeah, get outta there! I mean, Greece is beautiful, but I too live in a non english speaking country and it sucks because there's no such thing as workshops, book signings etc! I mean, that I can understand, of course.

    So run Allo, run!

  17. Yeeehaaaa! We love you no matter your address. :)

Ask and ye shall receive, it sounds like an incredible offer. Check it out, then decide. The world is your oyster!

I've learned a huge personal lesson from being a vagabond, home is where my heart is. And it's portable. What does your heart want??

P.S. And don't forget. If you hate it, this too shall pass. If it doesn't, give yourself permission to move back.

  23. One incident is curious. Two incidents, and the Will Behind The World is trying to tell you something.

My advice would be to listen.

I wish you wisdom to choose the better of the two offers.

I've found that those with talent who busy themselves using it will find the right path. Roland

  24. There is talk - well, more than talk actually - of limiting the number of foreign workers the UK accepts so maybe you should strike while the iron's hot.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Maybe it is! Don't let those two opportunities slide.

  26. Wow - it does sound like the universe is talking to you! Take some time and look at all the aspects before you make a decision - it's tough to do! Good luck :)

  27. I think, since your long term aspirations seem to be with the writing, that it makes a TON of sense--plus, you'd be a lot closer to at least a portion of the groovy writers networking around us--you could go hang out at Talli's house and stuff...

I think stuff like this comes along for a reason, and you'd be doing yourself a disservice to not at least look into it and see if it is feasible.

Nice to be in a life stage that you don't have to also be investigating public schools and trying to time job moves for TWO people (can you tell I've relocated with a FAMILY--that's not my favorite)

    Good luck to you!!!

  28. That is freaky. You’ll know what to do when the time comes...

  29. Your new pic is great!!!!
As far as your opportunities, go with your intuition. Your initial first response is always the best. Overthinking leads down a rough road. Good luck!!!

  31. Wow!! That's amazing!! I always feel that God has a plan for us and opens up things at just the right time. But even if that isn't your faith, sometimes things are meant to be.

Have a lovely beverage and go with your gut. You won't be disappointed!

  32. I've found that *nothing* happens by accident in the world. Seriously.

Go for it. It's meant to be.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Sounds like an open door. Only you can decide to enter or not.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Do what feels good and right to you. This may take some time to decide. Congrats on the opportunity!

  35. That's so, so awesome! Wonderful opportunities do strike when you least expect them. Congratulations! You definitely should at least try for it! :)

  36. You know I left the UK to live in Cyprus, and I will never return. It is not paradise, but heck the weather is fantastic, compared to UK. However, Greece has big problems at the moment, and the job opportunities might give you the chance to get out. The UK is going through changes with immigration at the moment, so you might need to check things out there. If you go don't get on in the UK, then the world is your Oyster again. Good luck :)

  37. B typos! If you go and don't get on...blah blah

  38. Go! Go! GO! Do it! :D (Sorry, I'm one for jumping in with both feet while blindfolded *grins*)

  39. I'm obviously late in getting on this, but I really believe in fate. And it seems as though fate is knocking not once, but TWICE. You can choose not to answer, if you don't want, but don't pretend you don't hear it. ;o)
